IIK Photo Contest 2022

1. Organizer / Contact
The photo contest, is announced by the Institute for International Communication e.V. (hereinafter "IIK"), 40477 Düsseldorf. It is not affiliated with Instagram and is neither organized nor sponsored or otherwise supported by Instagram.

2. What is the content of the competition?
Participants are invited to submit their personal pictures related to the theme of the contest "Animals in your city".

3. Contest period
The competition starts on 16.05.22 and ends on 07.06.22. The IIK reserves the right to change these dates without giving reasons, as well as to cancel the competition prematurely.

4. Scope and acknowledgement of the conditions of participation
Participants accept the Conditions of Participation and Privacy Policy by participating in the contest. Conditions of participation are, in addition to the "General Conditions of Participation", all descriptions and regulations presented in the context of the entire competition.

5. Who may participate?
All persons who are at least 18 years old are eligible to participate. Participants may submit multiple entries, but only one will be judged. Employees, freelancers and agents of the IIK are excluded from participation.

6. Who can be excluded?
In the event of a breach of the conditions of participation, the IIK reserves the right to exclude persons from the photo competition at its sole discretion and without further notice or stating reasons. Persons who disrupt the photo competition, use unauthorized aids or otherwise gain advantages through manipulation will also be excluded. The IIK may also declare such an exclusion retrospectively, withdraw prizes or reclaim them.

7. How does the participation work?
The photo contest will run in 4 phases:

• Submission of contributions by participants
• internal pre-selection of a top 5 by the IIK
• Publication of the top 5 by the IIK on its own Instagram page
• Voting by the Instagram community

The IIK reserves the right to anonymize individual contributions if this appears necessary for data protection reasons. The IIK reserves the right to publish the individual participant contributions on the IIK website and its own social media channels, stating (first) name and country of origin.

7.1. Submission
Participants will submit their entries via Instagram. Start time is 16.05.22 from 20:00 (UTC+1). End time is 27.05.22 at 13:00 (UTC+1). Submissions made outside of this time period will not be considered. The submitted entry should clearly state how it relates to the theme of the contest. It is mandatory that the participant has been involved in the creation of the made contribution. The following characteristics must be included:

• Tagging IIK via @iikduesseldorf
• Use of the hashtag #iikwettbewerb22
• Short sentence in the post text, what can be seen on the pictures
• Indication of the place where the picture was taken in the entry text
• Indication of the date of the shot in the entry text

7.2. Preselection
The IIK staff will make a preselection of 5 images from the submitted entries. If there are entries from the same participant, only one entry will be considered for the jury vote.

7.3. Publication
IIK will publish the 5 selected images on their Instagram page on 30.05.22.

7.4. Voting
From 30.05.22 until 07.06.22 at 13:00 (UTC+1), the posts will be voted for by the Instagram community. The post with the most likes will get the first place. The post with the second most likes will receive second place. The post with the third most likes will receive third place. 4th and 5th place will receive consolation prizes.

8. Announcement of the winners
The winners will be announced on 07.06.22 and then officially named on the IIK website and social media channels with the entry, name and country of origin.

9. Prizes

Cash payment of the winnings is not possible. The legal process is excluded. An exchange or transfer of the prize is possible. The IIK reserves the right to adjust the prizes according to availability.

10. How will the winners be notified?
Contact with the winners will be made via the private messaging feature on Instagram.

11. Rights of use, release and responsibility
The IIK is not obliged to check the content provided by the participants for potential infringements of third party rights. However, the IIK is entitled to reject content if, in its proper assessment, it is illegal or contrary to public decency. By submitting contributions, participants declare that the content is free of third-party rights, i.e. that the content either originates from them or that they have obtained the consent of the originators and of the persons depicted in pictures.

The participants indemnify the IIK from all claims of third parties that have arisen due to the content provided by the participants. They agree to support the IIK in every reasonable way in defending these claims.

Participants agree that their submissions may be used, disseminated and otherwise made publicly available to third parties by IIK in online and offline media in connection with the competition and the drawing, processing and presentation of the participants' entries. For these purposes, the IIK is also permitted to edit the entries and - if necessary - to grant third parties rights of use to them. These rights are granted free of charge and without any restrictions in terms of space, content or time.

The participants agree that their names (incl. country of origin) may be published on the Internet and in print media in connection with the competition.

12. Data processing and data protection
The IIK collects the entered data and stores them on a server. The IIK uses this data to contact the prize winners in case they win. The data will not be passed on to third parties. The IIK commits itself to protect the privacy of the participants and assures to process the data in accordance with the German Federal Data Protection Act, the German Telemedia Act as well as the European Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC). Participants may revoke their consent to the processing of their data at any time. Furthermore, with regard to the data collected, they have the rights to information and correction guaranteed by the Federal Data Protection Act.

13. Disclaimer of warranty
The IIK points out that the availability and function of the competition cannot be guaranteed. The sweepstakes may be terminated or removed due to external circumstances or constraints without giving rise to any claims by participants against the IIK. This may include technical problems, rule changes or decisions by platforms such as Instagram if the sweepstakes is hosted on or in connection with them.

14. Final provision
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany shall apply exclusively. Legal recourse is excluded. Ineffective provisions shall not affect the validity of the remaining provisions.
