Train the Trainer: Description

The demands placed on trainers in adult education have changed significantly in recent years. Trainers are no longer just pure knowledge mediators, but increasingly see their work as accompanying learning and change processes. Professional competence is on an equal footing with personal, social and methodological skills in order to meet quality requirements. In addition to organization and pedagogy, the range of tasks also includes the evaluation of training measures and the continuous further development of their own potential and experience. In the training to become a trainer, we pay particular attention to brain-friendly teaching and learning. Participants learn how we as teachers can consider, motivate, relax and at the same time encourage/challenge the brain during learning.

IIK Deutschland is a spin-off of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHUD). We have been successfully offering train-the-trainer courses in German since 2002. The original curriculum was developed by Prof. Schwarzer and Dr. Koblitz at the Institute of Educational Sciences at HHUD. Since 2010, IIK Deutschland has also been conducting train-the-trainer workshops with freelance trainers and has continuously developed the seminar concept and adapted it to the new requirements of the trainer profession. In 2014, an English-language train-the-trainer course was offered for the first time. This was designed to meet the growing demand from international participants.

  • experience themselves and their actions in front of groups and gain transparency about their own behavior as trainers.
  • acquire and expand their technical, reflective, and personal skills in order to be successful as trainers.

We recommend that those interested in train-the-trainer workshops make a telephone call to the Head of Training to find out more about the workshop. In this way, we can clarify in advance whether we can meet your expectations/wishes for the workshop and whether IIK Deutschland is the right choice.
